Counsels for the defendants retained Mr. Caputo as a consulting expert to assist in developing the technical case(s) for the defendants. 

The case involved several refineries and multiple defendants.  It was alleged that groundwater contamination along with permitted and upset air emissions had impacted the health in the immediate neighborhood which was mid to low level income.  Mr. Caputo and his staff reviewed over 300 boxes of discovery documents, tested several alternative technical approaches for the defense attorneys, proposed the technical case likely to be presented by the plaintiffs based upon the plaintiff’s list of experts and identified testifying experts for the defense.  Mr. Caputo worked with counsels in developing questions for the plaintiff’s experts and coordinated the defense experts.
